Karen Gilmore is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about providing mental health services for the local community. Following graduation with a Master of Social Work degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville she served in the area of private practice then transitioned to a local nonprofit providing services to residents in the area who experienced sexual abuse. Over the past several years she has served the community by providing care at a local hospital. Karen has also spent many hours volunteering at a local courthouse providing support and encouragement to those who find themselves in need of court assistance. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reactive Emotive Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and several more techniques, Karen specializes in providing care for those who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, anger, low self-esteem, poor self-concept, trauma, PTSD, grief, early dementia, problems with adjusting to a new situation or environment, thought distortions, interpersonal relationship problems, personality disorders, mood disorders, or paranoia. She believes that people are not defined by their condition or situation.
